My Instant Ramen Hack
I lived in Japan for 3.5 years and I fell in love with ramen. It's my top five favorite food. Kikanbo, Ichiran, and Afuri will always have a special place in my heart.
This Instant Ramen hack will never come close to satisfying a craving for real ramen. However, I've found myself making this over and over again for a quick, easy, and inexpensive lunch.
Basically, instead of making a ramen broth with the seasoning packet, I just heat up some vegetable oil (with some splashes of sesame oil) then dump it in a bowl with grated garlic and ginger, red pepper, soy sauce, black vinegar, green onions, and half the ramen seasoning. Add the cooked noodles and a fried egg if you please, and you have something much better than instant ramen.
